Challenge Mechanics

1.

Game Period

The Game Period is from 18 January 2010, 9am to 12 February 2010, 5pm.

2.

Game Trading Hours

Orders can be submitted to buy or sell shares between 9am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 5pm Singapore time during market trading days. No orders can be submitted during lunch time between 12.30pm and 2pm.

3.

Buying and Selling shares during the game.

a) The participant must ensure that there is sufficient virtual cash in his/her account to pay for his/her BUY order.

b) All orders, be it BUY or SELL will be matched at the last done price of the counter during market hours.

c) There is no queuing of counters allowed in the Game. 

d) No odd lots can be traded in the Game. All orders submitted must be in board lot quantities (multiples of 1000s)

e) No cancellation of the orders submitted is allowed in the Game.

f) No commission, fees and charges whatsoever is payable in the Game.

g) Each account is only allowed 30 buy or sell orders within the same trading day.

h) Each account will be assigned a short sell limit of S$50,000 at the start of each trading day.  Any short sell done will reduce this limit, which will not be restored during the day.

i) Each counter can only be short sold once per day.

j) Stocks traded in SINGPORE DOLLARS only are included in the Game.

4.

Short-selling & Contra

a) There will be a 2-bid penalty at the daily close of the market over the last done price, also called the “buy-in” price, in the event that you have short sold shares.

b) Penalty for short selling is as follows:

Example: 1000 AA shares short sold at $1.00. A penalty of 2 bids would be imposed over the last done price ($1.40) of the AA counter at the end of the trading day.

Last done price: $1.40

Penalty of 2 bids ($0.01x2 = $0.02)

Buy-in price: $1.42

Loss Amount: ($1.42 - $1.00) x 1000 = $420

5.

Trading halts and suspensions of counters

a) Trading halts

  • If a counter is under trading halt, it cannot be traded until the trading halt is lifted.
  • If a trading halt is imposed on a counter towards the end of the Game, the last done price before the trading halt will be used for final valuation of the shares.

b) Suspensions

  • Participants cannot trade suspended shares.
  • If a counter is under suspension at the end of the Game, a zero value will be accorded to it.
